Tax Collector Steele Announces Important System Upgrade
The upgrade will be rolled out to all tax collector offices beginning June 3, 2025,
and will affect office opening times.
Key West, Fla., May 13, 2025 – Constitutional Tax Collector Sam C. Steele today announced an important state system upgrade will be rolled out to all Monroe County Tax Collector Offices beginning Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Marathon Branch Office.
The upgrade is part of the Motorist Modernization initiative; a multi-year project designed to improve systems and create efficiencies at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). As an agent for FLHSMV, the Monroe County Tax Collector’s Office relies on FLHSMV systems and hardware to provide essential driver license and motor vehicle services to county residents.
The following offices will experience a brief service interruption during the upgrade, resulting in a later opening time of 12 pm. on these dates:
- Marathon Branch Office – Tuesday, June 3
- Plantation Key Branch Office – Thursday, July 17
- Big Pine Key Satellite Office – Thursday, July 24
- Key Largo Branch Office – Tuesday, August 5
- Key West Driver License Office – Wednesday, August 13
- Key West Main Office – Tuesday, October 8
During these upgrades, all other Monroe County Tax Collector Offices will be unaffected and will open at regularly scheduled times.
